Alissa M. Peashka joined Ritsema Law in October 2024. She handles Colorado workers’ compensation claims, as well as civil subrogation suits to help clients recover benefits paid on these claims. Alissa brings over 13 years of experience. She graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in May 2011 and has been licensed in Colorado since October 2011. She prides herself on being well-balanced, having represented both respondent and claimant sides. From 2013 – 2020, she defended respondents in workers’ compensation claims. She then turned to representing primarily claimants/plaintiffs in personal injury claims and, limitedly, claimants in workers’ compensation claims. She successfully has settled most claims, but she also has demonstrated her willingness to fight for her clients by taking claims to an administrative hearing or a jury trial.
Alissa now has lived in Colorado longer than she lived in Phoenix, Arizona, where she was born and raised. She recently celebrated 19 years of marriage with her husband, Guy. Eevee (like the Pokemon) and Wade (like Deadpool) are their second pair of Great Dane furkids. In May 2004, Alissa earned dual Bachelors of Arts degrees in English Literature and Music from Colorado State University. She currently uses her music skills (voice, piano, and violin) participating in the Law Club’s annual “Ethics Revue” CLE in Denver. She also has studied and practiced teaching and acting. She turned to law school because she always excelled at writing non-fiction, and because she craved a different challenge after earning her paralegal certificate from CSU in 2005 and working at a downtown law firm for 2 ½ years, (back when documents were Bates numbered by hand, using address labels).
