About

Karolyn joined Ritsema Law in 2024. She moved to Arizona after graduating from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2018. In 2019, she began her legal career practicing workers’ compensation defense. She has handled litigation matters before the Industrial Commission of Arizona and contributed to briefs before the Arizona Court of Appeals Division II and the Arizona Supreme Court. Karolyn has also practiced insurance defense in the areas of auto and premises liability and utility and environmental law.

Karolyn was born and raised in Ohio and then moved across the country to attend Georgia Southern University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Irish Studies. Soon after moving back to Ohio, she completed a Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Paralegal Studies at The University of Toledo.

Karolyn received recognition from the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services and Education in 2022 as one of the Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys in Arizona. She proudly provides legal services to indigent Tucsonans facing eviction and homelessness through the non-profit Step Up to Justice. She currently serves as a Director of the Pima County Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Division and previously served as a member of the State Bar of Arizona Young Lawyers’ Division Executive Board.
